    Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research
    Ph.D Admission-2013

Applications invited for fully sponsored Ph.Ds in Computational Sciences at Universities in the Netherlands followed by employment at Shell in Bengaluru, India

Rising global energy demand, difficult-to-access oil and gas, coupled with environmental and social issues forms the crux of the energy challenge

Energy production in the future needs to become ‘smarter’, more efficient and with smaller a environmental footprint

Computational research is increasingly used to deliver innovative technology solutions

Examples include high resolution seismic imaging illuminating ‘hidden’ hydrocarbons, molecular simulations leading to novel energy conversion solutions, or modeling and ‘smart grid’ optimization of energy infrastructure in urban environments

In line with this vision, Shell is setting up the Shell Bangalore Computational Centre of Excellence to foster cutting edge Computational R&D

Shell has teamed up with universities in the Netherlands to define a broad program in Computational Sciences in various disciplines of science and engineering

The ideal candidate has demonstrated affinity and strong motivation for computational research and is eager to work on Energy challenges in Shell Technology Centre Bangalore (STCB)

The successful candidate will have a recent or expected master’s degree (or equivalent postgraduate qualification) in Engineering or Science

With effect from the academic year 2013-2014, scholarships for a Ph.D at a University in the Netherlands are on offer

Each of these Ph.D projects will involve challenging research in Computational Science and Engineering, relevant to the energy industry (all courses are offered in English)

Access to internships at Shell’s R&D centers in Europe, US or India (Bengaluru)

Participation in summer schools, workshops and visits to other prestigious research institutes and universities as applicable

A gross annual salary (for the four year term) in the range €28,715-€36,789

Annual visits to the home country

Upon successful completion of the Ph.D, the candidates can join the Computational Centre of Excellence in STCB for an exciting career in Advanced Computation

Application Form: Application window remains open from 12th October, 2012 to 25th October, 2012 for the academic session starting September, 2013

Further process will include telephonic/face-to-face interviews in November, 2012 at select locations in India

The exact schedule would be duly communicated to shortlisted candidates
