  1. Admission to Ph.D Program (Even Semester) 2013-14


    The institute invites applications for admission to PhD Program in the areas as specified below:

    Ph.D. Program (Discipline and Qualifications)
    Engineering and Technology:

    Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized Technical Institute or University

    Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates

    Candidates will be considered for Ph.D. programme on the basis of: Valid GATE score card or CSIR/UGC-NET

    Humanities & Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics & English)

    Master’s degree in Sciences or Humanities / M. Tech in the relevant area with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized Institute or University

    Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates

    Candidates will be considered for Ph.D. programme on the basis of: Valid GATE score card or CSIR/NBHM/UGC-NET fellowship

    Areas of Research:
    Computer Science and Engg: Data Mining, Wireless sensor networks, Pattern analysis and machine learning, Computer Vision, Content based information retrieval, Cryptography, Information security, Information processing and applied algorithms

    Electronics & Communications Engg: Digital Signal Processing, Image and Video Processing, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning, Communication Engg, Wireless Communication, Information Theory, Analog and Digital VLSI Circuits and Signal Processing, Microelectronics and Embedded systems

    Electrical & Electronics Engg: Power systems, Control systems, Power Electronics and Drives

    Mechanical Engg: Computational Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow, Laser Material Processing, Turbulence Modelling and Cryo Surgery

    Humanities & Sciences:
    Economics: Macro Monetary Economics, International Trade and Finance, Financial Economics and Development Economics

    English: American Literature, British Literature, Indian Writing in English

    Chemistry: Electron Paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy

    Mathematics: Fluid Dynamics

    Physics: Photonics and Fiber optic Sensors

    Selection Procedure:
    The admission to Ph.D. Programme will be on the criteria given below:

    a) Overall Academic Performance

    b) Interview/ Written test to be conducted by the specific Dept.

    All candidates selected for admission shall be required to deposit the requisite Institute fee at the time of admission

    Selection will be based on academic record and performance in the interview

    How to Apply:
    The application form and other relevant information for admission to Ph.D. program may be downloaded from the Institute website www.nitgoa.ac.in

    Applications form, duly filled in, must contain a crossed Demand Draft of Rs.500/- for General/OBC and Rs. 200/- for SC/ST candidates

    The demand draft should be drawn in favour of “Assistant Registrar, National Institute of Technology, Goa payable at Corporation Bank, Farmagudi branch (Code: 1328) and should reach, NIT Goa 403401” on or before 27th Dec 2013

    The following documents (whichever applicable) arranged in the order given below should be enclosed along with the duly filled application:

    i) Three recent passport size photographs of the candidate attested by Gazetted Officer /Principal of the College /Head of the Institute last attended

    Self-attested copy of GATE score or UGC/CRIR/NBHM/UGC-NET fellowship

    Self-attested copy of provisional certificate, under-graduate degree certificate and mark-sheets of the qualifying and certificate of matriculation/10th class as the proof of age exam

    Self-attested copy of caste certificate in case of OBC candidate from competent authority (not below the rank of SDO/SDM/DC/DM/Tahsildar) indicating the status regarding creamy layer for the financial year mending 31st Mar 2013

    Research proposal of 1000 words should be attached with the application form

    Demand draft towards application fee as per category for the candidate i.e. Rs.500/- for Gen/OBC and Rs.200/- for SC/ST candidates

    (Kindly note that in the E- mail the specific department has to be mentioned and also the envelop has to be superscibed with the specific dept.)

    Incomplete / incorrect applications will not be considered for admission

    Newspaper Advertisement/Internal Advt. by: 27th Nov 2013

    Last date for receipt of application form: 27th Dec 2013

    Intimation regarding interview call to be posted on institute website: 30th Dec 2013

    Date of interview at NIT Goa: 06th Jan 2014 (Tentative)

    Date of announcement of results: 08th Jan 2014

    Date of admission: 09th Jan 2014 and 10th Jan 2014

    No separate interview letter/communication will be made to candidates individually
