    Post Graduate Diploma Course in Operation and Maintenance of Transmission and Distribution System (3rd batch) (26 weeks) Admission-2013

    The Indian Power Sector is presently passing through a phase of transition of technology up-gradation in the area of Generation and Transmission

    In order to mitigate the shortage of trained manpower Govt of India has already taken many initiatives for providing training and developing the required manpower


    However, the requirement of trained manpower is so high that there is a need of training/retraining of fresh and in service engineers and groom them by providing them the required training inputs and make them readily available for deploying them in the Power Sector as per its manpower requirements

    Eligibility: For Non-sponsored candidates, Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with minimum 60% all through (10th/12th/Graduation) marks

    For sponsored candidates, they should have 60% in the Engineering Graduation

    Selection Criteria: Selection criteria for admission based on the merit of CET-2012 or GATE-2012 or qualifying degree as applicable

    Age Limit: Maximum 27 years for non sponsored candidates as on 24th December, 2012

    No age limit for sponsored candidates

    Admission Fees: Rs 1,30,000/- excluding the Lodging and Boarding (payable in two equal installments Rs 70,000/- and Rs 60,000/- for non-sponsored candidates)

    For sponsored candidates Rs 1,50,000/- (in one installment)

    Caution Money Rs 5000/- to be deposited during admission which would be refunded back after completion of the course

    Foreign Nationals US $4,000/-

    Seats: 60 (sixty seats-provisional), 10% seats reserved for candidates sponsored from Power Utilities and reputed companies of Indian Power Sector having more than one year experience

    In case of non-availability of sponsored candidates, the balance seats under this category shall be available for non-sponsored candidates

    The total seats may decrease or increase purely at the discretion of CBIP

    Sponsored Candidates: The candidates who are sponsored from any organization have to enclose a sponsorship certificate from their respective organizations in the format given in the CBIP website CENTRAL BOARD OF IRRIGATION AND POWER

    The experience should be in an area which is relevant to the course (transmission and distribution sector)

    Placement: CBIP maintains close linkages with various power utilities and reputed companies of Indian Power Sector

    Most of the Govt utilities, IPPS, T&D utilities etc and other reputed manufacturing organizations of the above said field are associated with CBIP as member organizations and prefer to depute their engineers to attend the training programmes/workshops/ seminars at CBIP

    Though there is no commitment for placement of the candidates, CBIP would try its best and exploit all the opportunities for arranging campus interviews through its good networking with all of the power sector utilities/companies including reputed manufacturers

    While almost all the candidates of 1st Batch of PGDC in Transmission and Distribution System have been placed, about 40% students of 2nd batch (which is currently in progress) have been placed and the placement activities are still going on and it is hoped that very good placement shall be achieved in near future

    The placement activity for the 2nd batch is on and it is hoped that 100% placement shall be achieved in near future

    How to apply

    Application as per the format available on CBIP website CENTRAL BOARD OF IRRIGATION AND POWER on plain paper along with the demand draft of Rs 600/- (Rs 300/- for candidates who applied against 2nd batch of PGDC Thermal but not selected) in favour of CBIP, New Delhi payable at New Delhi, should reach the Secretary, CBIP, latest by 24th December, 2012 with two passport size photographs

    Candidates are advised to go through the brochure thoroughly before filling the form

    Central Board of Irrigation and Power was set up by the Govt of India for monitoring of Irrigation and Power of our country in the pre-independence era

    It is now committed towards the development of Irrigation, Power and Renewable energy sectors of the country through its Human Resources Development

    Course: This is a module type course of 52 weeks duration (2 semesters) covering the complete syllabus given under Indian Electricity Rules

    Why You Should Join: The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for inducting them in Operation and Maintenance of Thermal Power Stations of Indian Power Sector

    The course is also open for the sponsored candidates from SEBs/Power utilities (Public & Pvt)

    Eligibility: B.Tech/B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from a recognized university/institution

    Those appearing in their final year examination can also apply

    Sponsored Seats: 10% of the seats are reserved for sponsored candidates having 60% marks in B.Tech and 1 year experience in Power utilities for both of the above categories

    Age Limit: For Non-sponsored candidates, the age limit is 27 years as on 07th July, 2012

    No age limit for the sponsored candidates

    Fees: For non-sponsored and sponsored candidates Rs 1,50,000/- and Rs 2,00,000/- respectively, excluding the lodging and boarding charges

    Seats: 60 (sixth seats- provisional)

    The seats reserved for candidates sponsored from Power Utilities which will be converted to normal seats, if not filled up

    Placement: CBIP maintains close linkages with all power utilities and reputed companies of Indian Power Sector which will help for the placement of the students, sponsored candidates will not be considered for any campus placement

    Almost all the candidates of the 1st batch of T&D programme have been placed in various reputed organizations including Central PSU and placement activities for the 1st batch of PGDC (TPPE) has already been started
